The two sides in United negotiations reached an understanding over how to put a “cost” on proposals submitted by each side. While not expected to limit or reduce disagreement over what needs to be changed with the contract, this understanding in United negotiations is expected to reduce time spent on the financial impact of proposals.
Outside of United negotiations, significant strides in organizing AirTran are underway. It matters to us because non-unionized carriers exert a downward pressure on union wages. On a humanitarian level, it matters because AirTran workers are among the most poorly paid and treated.
